Market Adoption

We are loved by innovative and lean asset managers.

Company logo

By partnering with GovernGPT in H2 2025, we increased RFP capacity by 60%. Turnaround times improved significantly, enabling earlier, more confident submissions.

The platform helped us shift time from manual content upkeep to strategic, client-specific work. With this foundation in place, as we scaled our output, we maintained quality and control, enhancing consistency and efficiency while strengthening compliance oversight and maintaining a clear audit trail.

The partnership approach that Mamal and team take makes GovernGPT’s platform stand out above the rest.

Our Story

Our Story

Preface

This is Mamal writing.

I wanted to write this myself.

Because it felt like the right thing to do.

I thought to share our journey, one that's filled with a lot of

Here, I’ll share some of our most life-changing rendezvous we encountered in building GovernGPT.

I may skip some less transformational events, this is by no means any intention of less value but just less pivot of directionality.

Intro

So, where do I start?

Ok, I'm an engineer. Well, technically an AI scientist. I build systems;

Systems that interact with humans and make life better.

Meaningfully.

Do things we never thought possible.

Whether it's tasks that are humane, in-humane, or even superhuman 🦸.

This company simply started with a few conversations, by meeting a few friends and then friends of friends, I became their

I soon became an unpaid consultant.

As my usual, I went to share this with my best friend, Oliver.

He was curious, and so was I.

And, we just decided to explore together.

It felt like going on a treasure hunt or even solving a puzzle.

We just loved every bit of it!

We still do!

We saw a world of chaos, inefficient processes, and then more.

ChatGPT had just been released (Nov 2022)

And it was obvious biggest shift in economy is about to happen!

AI wasn’t just software, it was a service.

It shifts the meaning of value creation from the economic perspective.

So we got to work and we built.

Chapter 1 - The First IR analyst that Loved Our Product

First, and foremost

The first user that loved our product was an IR analyst at a $50b aum hedge fund.

His love meant he used everything we built.

The hedge fund itself is one of the mightiest on Wall Street.

Lean. Innovative. Conviction-driven.

Original thinkers in true founder-mode.

The analyst just wanted to get the task done.

We loved his love of our product.

We just wanted to 10x his love!

So, we doubled down. We focused on ways to 10x his love for our product,

As opposed to building features just to close sales.

This was unusual in asset management.

Typical service provider built for decision-maker’s approval.

We built for the analyst doing the work.

It was simple;

Rule #1 of building software is “to build for the user.”

In consumer software, you wouldn't even exist if you didn't build the best product but that's not the case with enterprise.

We spoke to ~ 100 asset managers that paid for another RFP platform

(like Loopio, Responsive, Dasseti, Qvidian, DiligenceVault)

And we kept hearing the same thing from IR analysts:

“We're NOT really using them.”

They sold licenses.

But they clearly failed at one thing,

That's why the analysts never touched the product, at least this was the case with lean asset managers.

So we

Focused on lean GPs as the starting audience to optimize for.

Focused on 10x'ing the love of the DDQ authors

And, we built from scratch; with LLMs (AI), the software narrative shifts entirely. Our biggest value prop is using LLM as software glue not necessarily the fancy stuff you see with OpenAI, though we do have some fancy stuff too ;)

Chapter 2 - Gap In the Market

This style of building combined with a team full of nerds like me and Oliver was the true gap we saw in asset management.

The GP market when it came to DDQs were underserved and overserved at the same time.

Underserved since the users didn’t get what they really cared about.

Overserved since the other platforms were feature-rich that nobody used.

Platforms that ignored the nuanced IR language, various data formats, the fact that filling DDQs is actually compliance task not a sales task; typically handled by salespeople (IR).

“We let go our previous content library since we never maintained it. And, a content library that’s out of date is more dangerous than not having any at all.” —Head of IR @ $30b aum European Private Debt fund

Our first clients partnered with us simply since they had a problem (DDQs), and they wanted it solved with modern tech. And we were the tech guys to solve it for them.

As we built, we kept saying:

“We’re giving their lives back to them!!!”

Some GPs that had engineers tried building this in-house too, yet afaik, they all have abandoned that effort. Some are our clients.

We did one thing extremely well.

We gave love and attention to the analysts.

And that love grew.

And consequently so did we.

Chapter 3 - Our Loyalty to IR Analysts Came Full Circle

Then not only the mighty hedge fund renewed their partnership with us but

Top IR analysts from all over the world 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 🇨🇦 🇬🇧 🇩🇰 🇸🇪🇨🇭 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 pushed to get us in.

They just wanted the better tool.

They gave me tips on pitching to their own team.

One even prepared a presentation just to replace Responsive internally.

They wanted to save their lives from copy-pasting!

I’m not gonna lie; I loved that feeling. I felt we’re doing truly valuable work here.

We showed loyalty, and we got loyalty in return.

We felt truly privileged.

“Wins Beget Wins”

So, we doubled down again.

On our thesis & craft

We built software no one had seen in this space before: simple, elegant, and sophisticated.

Most of our clients told me **our product is a category of one.**

And, every single GP ever seeing our product told me they love how simple it is.

That’s just because;

We never set out to compete with other RFP platforms.

We simply set out to serve the analysts.

Chapter 4 - Market Pull

We had a simple thesis, and it simply worked.

IR heads saw value.

In fact, at times GCs, CCOs, COOs, CFOs, CISOs, CTOs, CAOs and transformation directors were biggest our allies.

For GPs with engineers, it was a no-brainer to work with us instead of trying to build it themselves.

We had built it already.

Then one or two demo meetings would lead to an email like this:

And, that's all we need to show we're the best in the game!

DDQs went from 2 weeks to a single day.

DDQ teams loved us and adopted us even before signature.

From a director of compliance of a $2b aum PE

From the RFP head of $71b multi-strat firm

Followed by signed contracts including a variation of my favourite line:

Ultimately, different teams partnered with us for different reasons:

Power Users (DDQ authors):

Nobody wants to be the librarian, and we automate the librarian (a.k.a. content management) job.

Nobody wants to do book-keeping, and we automate the book-keeping job (i.e. update an old ILPA with updated facts/figures)

Ultimately, nobody wants to spend their Christmas break working on DDQs.

Non-power Users (IR heads, CFO/CCO/COO/CAO/GC/ transformation directors):

Reduce turnover since the DDQ team is happier.

Scale the firm's IR since one DDQ author now delivers 10x the work.

The firm operates more efficiently.

LPs get a better service simply due to much shorter (1/10th) turnaround time.

Responses are more accurate & consistent given the narrative the GP is maintaining across the LP base.

Which led to various types of introductions in the industry;

It could be from one analyst to another:

It could be from a transformation director to a COO:

It could be from a CCO / GC to a CFO:

In fact, it could be from a GP stakes to their manager partners:

GovernGPT Competitors

It costs a GP many additional resources to make a legacy RFP/DDQ solution work. This is because:

**Getting data in is a pain**, as documents require manual entry or reformatting. GovernGPT can bulk-import any document in its original format (Word, Excel, PDF).

**Pre-population doesn’t work as claimed**, generating inaccurate or inconsistent answers. GovernGPT ensures accuracy and consistency by prioritizing pre-approved answers (and highlighting when it’s not), refreshing old content with updated data, and documenting change over time. Every line is traceable.

**Finding data is a struggle** if it wasn’t tagged properly or a question is worded differently. GovernGPT tags data automatically, and all content can be found via semantic search.

LLMs vs. GovernGPT

Automation without trust is not efficient. Funds don't trust default AI models for RFPs/DDQs because:

**Hallucination occurs** when given more than a few pages at a time. GovernGPT eliminates hallucination by controlling context given to our AI models.

**Answers are reworded**, creating unnecessary review and destroying efficiency gains from AI. ~90% of GovernGPT’s pre-population is verbatim pre-approved content with full traceability. If any content is AI-generated, it is highlighted clearly.

**Outdated data is often used** since change is not tracked across time. GovernGPT automatically maintains an accurate record of your data across “approval dates” and “as of dates”.
